Internet Explorer 11

What internet browser are you using? Google Chrome, Mozilla FireFox, Safari, Internet Explorer or something else? You can use any browser as long as it is easy, comfortable and enhances your internet experience and gives you the desired results.

But, if you are using Internet Explorer please check what version you are running. Microsoft has already phased out support for Internet Explorer versions 8,9 and 10. This change means it ended all security updates and technical support for versions prior to the latest version; IE 11. Old version users will be more vulnerable to cyber attacks on their devices because software problems identified further down the line won’t be fixed.

Therefore, it is very important to have the current version with regular security updates to protect devices from malicious web attacks. IE 11 offers better backward compatibility, increased performance and improved security.

Microsoft will continue to provide support to users for IE9 on Windows Vista as it’s the latest compatible version for that operating system and is also offering help to enterprise customers - organisations with more than 500 employees. It is a huge task for big corporations to suddenly upgrade to the latest software without having complications. Everyday users will just need to follow the Windows prompts to upgrade to IE11.

Usually, the version of the browser you are using may affect the ability to view certain websites. Therefore, it is recommended to check the compatibility. But, firstly how do you know what IE version is on your device?.

Below are the two options to figure this out.

Please note newer versions of Internet Explorer don’t have the traditional menu bar, so choose the appropriate Options.

If you have neither a Menu Bar or Gear Icon, right-click in the blank space in your bookmarks bar and select ‘Menu Bar’ from the menu.

Option 1: With Menu Bar

Go to Internet Explorer.

Click ‘Help’ on the Menu Bar on the top.

Click ‘About Internet Explorer’ on the bottom of the Menu and a new window will appear.

Logo will then display the version you are using.

Option 2: No Menu Bar

Go to Internet Explorer.

Click ‘Gear Icon’ on the upper-right corner of the Internet Explorer Window.

Click ‘About Internet Explorer’ on the bottom of the Menu and a new window will appear.

Logo will then display the version you are using.
