The iOs 9 iPhone Feature Update
Have you recently upgraded to Apple’s latest mobile operating software iOS 9 ? If you have please be aware of its new feature called “ Wi-Fi Assist “ as to how it actually works.
This feature gives user a smooth online experience as it switches automatically to mobile data if it determines Wi-Fi connection is too flaky. It is definitely a good feature to have specially when you are downloading music or video files and are away from your house Wi-Fi range. You want to watch a movie sitting in the garden but are at the edge of your Wi-Fi range, this handy feature will give you lag free streaming. However, there is a downside as well.
It has been reported in media by users that their allocated mobile data seems to be finishing very quickly since upgrading to iOs 9. Well, the fact is “ Wi-Fi Assist “ feature is turned ‘ON’ by default. In order to provide best streaming without interruption it switches to mobile data unknown to the user, while they thought they were on Wi-Fi. As a result skyrocketing mobile data usage and unrealistic phone bills. This, is a big shock for users on very limited budgets. People on low-cost mobile plans are the most disadvantaged as their data allocation is too low in the first place.
Luckily, there is an easy fix to this potentially problematic new feature. You can turn this feature ‘OFF’ by following the steps below.
1. Go to phone’s ‘Setting’.2. Select ‘Mobile Data’.3. Go to ‘Wi-Fi Assist’ which is below the app settings and statistics.4. Turn the switch ‘OFF’.
